Following the devastating loss to fire of a sprawling farmhouse, a local family approached several notable firms for help rebuilding. Ultimately, they selected Teakwood, the builder that had stepped in to help with a simple ask at the start: to connect the homeowners to someone who could restore their prized great room light fixtures, salvaged pieces that had been part of an historic Saratoga Springs hotel. Forging a relationship built on such trust, knowledge, and access to expertise, Teakwood partnered with the original architect to recreate the 20-year-old home up from the soot-and-water-laden foundation. The overall layout remained mostly unchanged, but included some welcome updates and improvements. A petite breakfast nook off the kitchen was reborn as a light-filled dining and sitting area with fireplace, opening onto an expansive al fresco entertainment space complete with built-in grill. A new elevator anticipates aging-in-place needs. The reconfigured kitchen now boasts an eat-at centerpiece conducive to informal gatherings. The great room was faithfully reconstructed to feature stunning cherry millwork and built-ins. A refreshed palette of playful color throughout reflects the family’s creativity and spirit. After nearly two years of painstaking effort and emotional labor, this phoenix rose from the ashes to reclaim its place of pastoral peace, revived as a space for shaping new memories.
