Every room in this Colonial style home had a unique personality, and the kitchen was no exception. The existing floor-to-ceiling walnut cabinetry, dark hardwood flooring and black counter tops made the kitchen feel dark, however, and the layout created an awkward work triangle that made for chaos during the dinner rush. When the clients decided it was time for a kitchen renovation, they wanted to carry the open feeling from the adjoining living room into the new space.
Drawing inspiration from the exposed beams that act as the visual divider between the two rooms, Teakwood Builders incorporated antique white cabinetry, a warm walnut island and plenty of earth tones flowing from the walls to the floors. The result is a comforting and homey atmosphere for this family of four and their guests to come together in.
